As a service to the Muslim community the Islamic Council of Queensland (ICQ) is running a halal certification program to ensure that the food outlets, restaurants, take away shops, etc. that advertise or claim to sell halal food meet the requirements of the sharia law.
The implementation and the success of this program will depend on the level of support and co-operation ICQ receives from the business outlets and the members of the community. On the one hand ICQ encourages and appeals to all the business owners (Muslims and Non-Muslims alike) who sell halal foods to have their premises inspected and certified by ICQ. On the other hand ICQ appeals to the members of the community to patronise and support those premises that have been inspected and certified as being halal.
ICQ NEITHER RECOGNISES NOR SUPPORTS HALAL CERTIFICATION IN QUEENSLAND BY ANY OTHER ORGANISATION OR INDIVIDUAL EXCEPT ICQ AND THE AUSTRALIAN FEDERATION OF ISLAMIC COUNCILS (AFIC).
